Marsam, Savour
Acrylics and Crayon on 3x5ft ~90x150cm stretched canvas
2024
A statement piece on its own or accompanied by one or more of the other Marsam paintings, these large scale artworks boast a freshness and expressiveness that is complemented by the scale of the artwork and the freedom of its lines. Paying tribute to the collection theme: Marsam, which means studio in Arabic. The beauty of the language is apparent where the place is named after the activity it holds, so it literally translates to the place where drawing happens. as though the name being attached to a precious ritual and indispensable activity. If a Marsam exists then so must art. One of four paintings in this format and theme, Savour highlights the enjoyment of the process of art, taking the time and enjoying being present and still, soaking it all in. We are asking the everlasting question of what is art, is it the outcome or the process, the person, place, object or journey.
